Despite its isolated location, Metro were able to fully refurbish this communications exchange extending its life for many more decades.
The Lochmara exchange proved to be a challenging project due to its isolated location in the Marlborough Sounds and High Wind Zone. Metro completed work to the building to ensure it will be fit for purpose and not require a major rebuild due to its difficult location. All roofing and building materials were transported by barge and to get to site Metro employees took a boat. Challenging weather conditions and transport logistics did not prevent the project from being completed on time.
